Location and Time

Following ECOSS-17 in Enschede (1997), ECOSS-18 in Vienna (1999) and ECOSS-19 in Madrid (2000) the 20^th European Conference on Surface Science (ECOSS-20) will be held in Krakow (Poland) from Tuesday, September 4 to Friday, September 7, 2001.

Scope

The ECOSS-20 conference will cover the whole range of surface science. The scientific programme will deal with both fundamental and applied aspects of physics and chemistry of surfaces and interfaces. Contributions from emerging areas related to Surface and Interface Science are welcome. Following topics will be covered:

Diffusion and Growth
Magnetic Interfaces
Nanometer Scale Science
Nanotribology
Biomaterial Interfaces
Interfaces
Small Particles and Clusters
Surface Geometric and Electronic Structure
Surface / Interface Microscopy
Surface / Interface Spectroscopy
Surface Phase Transitions and Thermodynamics
Surface Reactions
Surface Modification with Ions, Electrons, and Photons

The conference will consist of invited and contributed papers during plenary, oral and poster sessions. The proceedings are planed to be published as a special issue of Surface Science. Details concerning the submission of manuscripts are given on a separate page.

Exhibition

An international exhibition of vacuum equipment, instruments for surface analysis and scientific literature will be held in conjunction with ECOSS-20 in a special exhibition area within the conference site. If you are interested to rent exhibition space, to add informational material to the conference bags of the participants, or to advertise in the book of abstracts, please contact the local committee by fax (see below) or email at ecoss@castor.if.uj.edu.pl
