SOME WORDS ABOUT KRAKOW:

Krakow is a city of one million people in the very heart of Europe. Poland's former capital, the cradle and Pantheon of Polish kings, it is also a city of learning with one of the oldest universities in Europe. Krakow is a city both of museums and of youth: a city of one hundred thousand university students. It is a city of meetings, festivals and conferences. Moreover, it has preserved its individual body of structure and buildings. The functionality of its thirteenth-century urban plan can be seen in the fact that it still works today: now as then, cultural, administrative and commercial life is focused around Krakow's 40,000-square-meter town square, the largest one in Europe. Under the link below one can find www pages about Krakow and its University:

ABOUT THE MEETING:

The German and the Polish Vacuum Societies DVG and PTP are organizing a joint meeting which is intended to provide a forum for exchange of information and expertise as well as for presentation of recent R&D results in the areas of common interest. The meeting is representing the 4th of the Annual Meetings of the DVG, thus following the idea to foster the cooperation between European Vacuum Societies by transnational conferences. Possibilities for future co-operation activities between the members of both Societies will be explored. Vacuum equipment companies and sales agents will also be invited to join and actively participate in the meeting.

MEETING TOPICS:

Applied Surface Science and Surface Technology, Thin Films and Coatings, Bio-surfaces, Nanostructures and Nanotechnology, Characterisation of Surfaces and Thin Films, Vacuum Science and Technique. It has been decided that the meeting will be focused on recent developments in NANOTECHNOLOGY and its particular requirements for vacuum techniques.

MEETING FORMAT:

The symposium will consist of up to 16 invited lectures (40 minutes speaking time) and several oral contributions (30 and 20 minutes speaking times). A poster session will also be organized. The meeting language is English.

VACUUM EQUIPMENT & TECHNOLOGY EXHIBIT:

Industrial companies, as well as small and medium size enterprises active in production of vacuum equipment and in applications of vacuum related technologies are invited to participate in the exhibit. For obtaining more information and detailed conditions together with the Registration and Contract Form, please, fill-in the exhibitor pre-registration form on the meeting web site.
In case of any questions concerning the exhibit please send an e-mail to Mr. Piotr Piatkowski (piatkows@if.uj.edu.pl), who is in charge of the exhibit organization.

MEETING FEE:

The meeting fee is 200 Euro and it covers the cost of coffee breaks, social program (excursion and banquet) and book of abstracts. Members of both Societies (DVG and PTP) are entitled to 25% reduction of the fee. The meeting fee for accompanying person is 50 Euro and it covers the cost of social program (excursion and banquet). Accommodation for participants of the Joint Meeting will be available at the Jagiellonian University Guest Houses (3 star standard) or in Hotel "Polonez". The reduced price (group booking through the Host Organizers office) will be 35 Euro/person/night in double room (breakfast included) and 45 Euro for participants who prefer single room accommodation.
